Martin has a studio just outside Llangattock village, looking over the Usk valley towards Crickhowell. Recognised as a painter and linocut printmaker, after working in education for many years. He exhibits regularly in Wales, London and other parts of the UK.
Martin’s paintings in oil or acrylic, aim to capture the magic and spirit in the hedgerows, trees and wildlife in the Welsh landscape. He is often out with his camera, sketch book and paints, with many pieces started ‘en plein air’ to catch the ‘moment’ and then finished in the studio.
The carefully designed, hand-printed linocuts that Martin makes are often of the wildlife of the Beacons and south Wales. The animals, birds and fish are shown in a specific place and season, informed by careful observation of the natural world. Many of his linocut designs are now published as greetings cards and in calendars and available across the UK and abroad.
Incidentally the greetings cards are from Art Angels and the calendars are from Flame Tree.
