One of the larger framed pieces I have is of a dove in flight. Typical of my work, he is a white dove against a dark background with, as it happens, a slightly less than perfect tail. He and his tail come with an additional tale – in short, doves and a dove cote we bought for my mother-in-law, gradually, sadly, reduced in number by the incursions of a sparrow hawk. This lone dove battled on to successfully rear two squabs. It occurs to me that my white dove, universal symbol of peace, has a parallel story.
