The wood original (sold to private collection) stands at a similar height to the work as it stands on the steel plinth. The choice to cast approx. 25mm at the base of the bronze, shows a suggestion of the outer surface of the original log the piece was initially carved from, providing a stable base. Although the mould was taken of the whole original work, including the log, with branches and knot details all the way to the floor.
