Gallery artist Josh Locksmith will be in the gallery courtyard on Friday 20th October and Saturday 21st October demonstrating stone carving.
Josh’s current work focuses on leaf forms, informed by his training in historic carving techniques, developed over millennia. Inspired by this legacy, Josh explores the fundamentally opposing qualities of leaves and stone, capturing the rhythmic qualities of fallen leaves.
Josh’s finished marble sculptures are on display in the gallery and can be viewed online.
In this demonstration, you will be able to watch Josh at work using hand tools, and he is also happy to have informal chats with you about the making process and sharing his own thoughts and ideas.
