It was fun to try and capture all the elements of this rambly, scrambly plant in a small space! Botanical illustrators are traditionally expected to show not only an attractive portrait of the specimen, but also to depict all relevant diagnostic elements, with the idea that a botanist would be able to readily identify the plant from the image. This is particularly important for my work with Kew.
