"Icarus has experienced freedom and joy so
fully that he ignored, or choose to forget, the laws of physics and his
body crashes down into the ocean. But not until he has had the most amazing
experience, for everything it was worth and perhaps now his spirit is ascending
free of it’s earthly bounds… transcendence.
Icarus falls, wings burning,
ash covered, into the sea".
Icarus
NEVER regret thy fall
O Icarus
Of the fearless flight,
For the greatest tragedy
Of them all
Is
Never to feel
The
BURNING LIGHT...
~~ Oscar Wilde
This Icarus Takes Flight is a unique Variation and is
therefore subtitled Leaving the Material World . In the composition of this
sculpture the cloth that swirls around Icarus was created especially and uniquely
for this piece.
Icarus
Takes Flight explores the letting go of worldly ‘stuff' as Icarus reaches
upwards towards higher planes, he spreads his arms like a child visualising his
wings that will fly him high, high and away..
