Jennifer Tetlow is a sculptor in stone. The natural world and wildlife are primary inspirations for her sculpture, which is hand carved and shaped from raw blocks of stone. Her contemporary pieces are rounded, simple shapes, with smooth, polished surfaces and portray strongly the essence and character of her bird and animal subjects. Recent work has included ten stones carved with wildlife species found along the banks of the River Aire in a city centre project with award winning architects Arup, and an alabaster piece commissioned by the Burrell Renaissance Project for the Glasgow Museum. When not carving, she can often be found bird watching or on butterfly surveys for the local Wildlife Trust, and volunteering on their conservation projects within the North York Moors.
