Krystyna Sargent

"Worlds Within Worlds is the new collection of ceramic sculptures inspired by the nature of creation, erosion and weathering by time and the elements."

Krystyna Sargent is an established ceramicist and artist, having graduated from De Montfort University in Leicester in 1984.  She has exhibited in galleries and the museum in Leicestershire, relocating to Dorset in 2020 where her work can be seen in galleries throughout the Purbecks, with a solo exhibition at Arts In Hospitals, Dorchester.  Commissions have included ceramic pieces featured in chef Tom Kerridge's book, Tom's Table and pieces for the BBC's Great British Menu.

Worlds Within Worlds is the new collection of ceramic sculptures inspired by the nature of creation, erosion and weathering by time and the elements.  Working in her studio in
Weymouth, Krystyna is inspired by the Jurassic coastline on her doorstep, big Dorset skies, celestial bodies, rocks and water from the crumbling stratae of rock of  West Bay to the smooth water shaped pebbles of Chesil beach.

Experimenting with various clays and volcanic temperatures of the kiln, Krystyna has produced unique strata effects where the inclusion of some processed local Jurassic clay has created a fast-forward erosion and layering, giving rise to the description "Worlds Within Worlds'.  A trio of figurative sculptures completes the theme of creation, ancient beginnings, timelessness and the inevitability of erosion and transformation.

We're delighted to be showcasing a selection of these unique pieces in our Winter Show 2024.
