Penny began her career as a theatre designer, creating scenery and costumes across Britain before moving into illustration, focusing on craft, lifestyle, gardening, and natural history books. A graduate of the Society of Botanical Artists' Distance Learning Course with Distinction, she won the Award for Excellence.

Penny is a tutor and best-selling author of "Botanical Drawing" (2018) and "Paint 50 Watercolour Flowers" (2023) published by Search Press.   She leads botanical drawing workshops and an online correspondence course with global students.

Her work, in watercolour and graphite pencil, is botanically accurate and visually appealing.  She also creates award-winning collages reminiscent of 1930s silk screen prints.  Penny regularly exhibits in London, the South-West, Europe, and in her Dorset studio. Her painting "Grape Hyacinth" was displayed at the Museo Centro de Gaias in 2014 and featured in the International Botanical Art Exhibition in South Korea. Inspired by the natural world, especially the glorious Dorset countryside, she loves to share her techniques and is a welcome guest here, demonstrating them in the gallery for visitors to see in person.
